Veneers

Veneers are custom made, custom fitted very thin pieces of porcelain which are bonded to your natural teeth. Veneers are an excellent way to correct tooth anomalies and to alter shape, color, and size of teeth in a very conservative way with minimum risk to natural tooth structure.
The procedure is usually completed in a few appointments. At the first appointment, dental records, photographs and dental molds of the existing teeth are obtained. These are needed to accurately make wax mockups of the teeth with the desired esthetic outcome. At the second appointment, the teeth are prepared which is a matter of reshaping and taking away small amounts of tooth structure to provide the space for the porcelain veneers and impressions of the teeth are made. At this appointment, Dr. Seleem will also fabricate temporary veneers that are cemented in place until the permanent veneers are fabricated. The impressions along with new photographs are then sent to a specialized dental laboratory where the veneers are handcrafted by very skilled master technicians. At the final appointment, your beautifully crafted veneers are bonded in place and your new smile is completed.

FAQs

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are very thin, custom-made shells, typically crafted from porcelain, that are bonded to the front surface of your natural teeth. They are designed to blend in with your smile while altering the tooth's appearance in terms of shape, color, or size.

How is the veneer process usually started?

The process generally begins with an initial consultation where dental records, photographs, and molds of the existing teeth are taken. These tools help create a wax mockup to help visualize the intended esthetic outcome before any permanent changes are made.

Is any tooth preparation required for veneers?

Yes, in a standard procedure, a small amount of natural tooth structure is typically reshaped to create enough space for the porcelain veneer to sit flush with the rest of your teeth. This ensures the final result looks and feels natural.

Will I have teeth while my permanent veneers are being made?

Yes. While a specialized dental laboratory handcrafts your permanent veneers, temporary veneers are usually fabricated and put in place to protect your prepared teeth.

How are the permanent veneers attached?

Once the handcrafted porcelain pieces are ready, they are bonded directly to the front of the prepared teeth using a dental adhesive. This creates a durable and integrated fit with your natural smile.
